Welcome to Wilder Bramley
We're a community led group, here to encourage the people of Bramley to connect with nature and act to protect, enhance and increase it.
That may be through local wildlife encounters, increasing biodiversity in back gardens or creating community spaces for nature to thrive.
We were delighted to win a Wilder Neighbourhood award from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.
The aims of the Group are to:
connect people in Bramley (Hampshire) and surrounding areas who appreciate and wish to protect nature and to raise awareness of environmental issues,
promote ideas and actions to increase biodiversity locally,
share advice on how to be more sustainable individually and collectively,
organise volunteer events, projects and other activities in line with these objectives.
Our group began in Spring 2022, when a handful of like minded people met at a tree planting event and decided to start up a group to connect local people who loved nature. Our aim is to do whatever we can to increase biodiversity and sustainability in the village of Bramley, Hampshire and the surrounding area.
From inspiring people through our popular Facebook group to do their bit for nature in their own gardens, to working as a hands-on volunteer for our projects like the Bee Garden, we want to enthuse as many people as possible. There are many small, local community groups and nature is in crisis. By all working together, we can help to save it.
We have been incredibly heartened by the warm support we have had from village residents, and these are some of the things we have achieved:
Created a Community Bee Garden in Clift Meadow, with over 300 plants donated by local people, to support our bees and other threatened pollinators. Maintained by volunteers, it has won two RHS, Britain in Bloom awards.
Seeded a native Wildflower Area in Clift Meadow, to increase annual and perennial wildflowers locally, providing habitat and food for many insects and birds.
Built up a following of over 500 people in our Facebook group, where people share their love of nature and inspire each other.
Worked with the Parish Council on a local Biodiversity Policy.
Established a programme of walks and talks, on subjects such as bluebells, butterflies, local birds, badgers and gardening for wildlife.
Saved nearly 80 newly planted trees from dying during the drought with our Adopt a Tree watering scheme.
See our Projects page to discover how we are making a difference for nature in Bramley.
Do join us! You can head over to our Facebook page on to join in the chat or, better still, become a Member and really give us your support to help us achieve more things for nature.
If you have any ideas, comments, compliments or offers of help, do get in touch, we’d love to hear from you!
What is biodiversity?
Biodiversity is the variety of life on Earth, in all its forms and all its interactions. This includes everything from micro-organisms, plants and animals to the natural systems that support them. Biodiversity describes our natural wealth, which makes up the living landscape around us, sustains ecological systems and enhances our quality of life.
